AZ lawmakers propose ballot measure for marriage amendment
The AP reports on the Tucson Citizen: "Republican legislators are moving to have Arizona voters decide whether to amend the state Constitution to define marriage as a union of one man and one woman." The paper indicates that Cathi Herrod of the Center for Arizona Policy has characterized this as the "consensus measure" because it’s solely intended to bar recognition of same-sex marriage." One wonders whether the quote is accurate. Presumably, the amendment would also bar polygamy and various other deviations from marriage between one man and woman.
