Pregnancy or Fornication Discrimination? Pregnant Unmarried Teacher Fired
Life News has a report titled (2.13.2008): Minnesota Catholic Teacher Refused Abortion but Faced Pregnancy Discrimination. It begins:
A Catholic school teacher in Minnesota has issued allegations of pregnancy discrimination saying the school asked her to resign from her job even though she did not have an abortion. Emily Prigge is 23-years-old and unmarried and, she says school officials asked her to resign after they learned of her pregnancy . . . They told her she had violated a statement she had signed agreeing to be a positive Catholic example in the school . .
The reports cites other cases involving so-called pregnancy discrimination. But, is this really pregnancy discrimination or is it fornication discrimination?
One Comment
There is no form of discrimination here, just standing up for the morals that the Catholic Faith istrying to perserve in the face of the continual assualt by the media and TV; movie and TV shows that push the image that marraige / traditional marraige is not an essentail part in developing a moral and responsible society. There is more then enough shows that support the degredation of young peeople: Bad Girls Club, Paradise Hotel, MTV Reality shows… the list goes on.
The parents who send their children to school for a Catholic & Faith Filled Education should stand up and applaud the Administers of the School.
With that said, this young woman should not be osterzied for what has become an increasing fate for so many young woman, The Church needs to continue to reach out and help pregant and unwed mothers. Forgiveness is the center of Jesus’s love for all.
Thank You
