Stephanie Holmes reports on the BBC:
The UN estimates that some 2.5 million people are in forced labour at any given time, as a result of trafficking. "We don’t know much about the size of the iceberg that lies beneath," admitted Antonio Mario Costa, head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) . . . It is not just the sex industry that is fed by traffickers, though the UN estimates that 43% of those trafficked are used for forced commercial sexual exploitation.
