Philly’s War on the Boy Scouts and Media Cover-up
Michael Ferris reports on the Wall Street Journal (2.16.2008):
As Michael Nutter was sworn in as the city’s 98th mayor last month, he called for a new wave of public service to clean up drug-infested neighborhoods. If he is serious about renewing volunteerism, he’ll start by putting an end to the city’s campaign against the Boy Scouts.
On May 31, the Cradle of Liberty Council, the local Boy Scout chapter, will be evicted from its headquarters on 22nd and Winter Streets — a space it has occupied since 1928.
The eviction isn’t for a breach of contract. It comes at the behest of the City Council, which voted 16 to one last year to kick the boy scouts out unless they reverse the national Boy Scouts of America’s ban on gays serving in the ranks or as scoutmasters or start paying “market rent” — about $200,000 a year. Local chapters can’t reverse national scouting policies. So it’s a matter of paying up or moving out.
Unfortunately, the Wall Street Journal and reports on the topic don’t make it clear just how directly this is being driven by the H-Agenda.
On October 19, 2007, Catherine Donald-Evans reported in Fox News, “Boy Scouts’ Rent Skyrockets in Philadelphia to $200K Over Gay Ban”. Her report details how City Solicitor Romulo L. Diaz Jr. has been a driving force behind the effort to evict the Scouts. With regard to Diaz, she reported:
“It’s been reported that the solicitor is openly homosexual — and who cares — but I wonder if it’s something that he and members of the activist gay community want: to kick the Boy Scouts out of their building.”
Diaz declined to answer questions about his sexual orientation, but said it was irrelevant because his job was to enforce what the city has voted and agreed on.
“I’m doing my job,” he said. “I’m taking it on because I was directed by the mayor, City Council and the Fairmount Park Commission.”

This is an absolute disgrace. I hope your creepy folks fall into the abyss. Leave raising girlie-men to the Californicators!!
As a Philadelphian and a Boy Scout for many years I am deeply embarrased. I think the issue is a cross section of America’s dilemma with the H-movement. People and the city council wanted to be democratic and politically correct but along the way the population has been deceived by the media, and apparently the entire bureaucratic infrastructure, into some snowball mantra that we must continue to liberalize, which many simply continue to echo robot-like, and the children often following suit. We need strong leaders to end this fraud !
what kind of people live in philly? you have elected to office a bunch of henchmen.
