Media calls on President to nominate "moderates"The Philadelphia Inquirer has an editorial titled, Bush Nominees: Too Far Right: “President Bush is complaining again about the Senate’s failure to approve his federal nominees, but he’s ignoring an obvious solution: Nominate moderate candidates.” Their crime: “membership in the ultra-conservative Federalist Society.” Meanwhile, this Baltimore Sun editorial has a similar song and dance as it laments: “the court’s slow race to undercut existing rights could become a stampede.” Doug Kendall has this piece on the Huffington Post (2.17.2008): Fearing the McCain Supreme Court. He writes that talk radio is unconvincing : “. . . one looks in vain for a judge who is too ideologically conservative for McCain.” The editorials come after ADF joined with many other groups to call on the Senate to move nominations forward.
