Washington bill expands domestic partner benefits



Jeff Mapes reports in the Oregonian (2.15.2008) that a Washington bill to expand benefits granted to domestic partners has passed the Washington House on a party line vote. He reports:  "This bill, sponsored by Rep. Jamie Pedersen, D-Seattle, would expand that law to include rights such as property, guardianship and dissolution. Currently, 23 rights are guaranteed to domestic partners. The expansion adds 174, but that is still short of 480 rights given to married couples . . . "
