This Article argues that countermovents intended to preserve existing status regimes speak in a common tongue . . . From these case studies, I demonstrate that the language and arguments Eskridge identifies as antigay are present in both the anti-miscegenation and the anti-same-sex marriage movements. I conclude that Eskridge has in fact uncovered a pattern not exclusive to the antigay countermovement, but applicable countermovements generally.
