Where Has All the Money Gone? State University Systems



The National Review Phi Beta Cons blog links to a study by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity.  Apparently, only 20-40% of the money pumped into North Carolina’s colleges and universities actually goes to instruction.

    For varying reasons, I have lived much of my long life in college towns, including extended times in second-tier state university towns. I haven’t done an audit, but from the construction I have witnessed unrelated to increases and decreases in student population, I think this follows that old law the Raffles Professor of something debveloped watching the British Colonial Office expand as the population and size of hte empire shrank.
