Evangelical Divide Widens along Generational Line, Says Exper
Michelle A. Vu has this report in the Christian Post. She writes:
Younger evangelicals are increasingly feeling disconnected from the older generation when it comes to politics, said an expert on Monday . . .
These young evangelicals see the pro-life cause as a social justice issue moreso than simply a moral value. They also see a deep connection between their faith and global social justice issues such as Darfur, global warming, and poverty, which they put on the same level of priority as abortion.
The former top Bush aide offered evidence for a possible coalition between these young evangelicals and the Democratic Party, which has long campaigned on social justice issues.

As a 20-something evangelical Christian, I can say that social justice issues are very important to me. HOWEVER, what good is it to take action on human suffering in Darfur, poverty, etc.–quality of life issues–if we don’t fight for life first? I don’t see how abortion and these other issues are mutually exclusive, because they’re not.
…And abortion is still the most important issue, I should add.
How can one (who purports to be a [Christian] evangelical call abortion (pro-life) a social justice issue….oh, I know! words are NOT so important, after all, right? Murder is murder is murder! And whether the baby (fetus!) is pre-born or born, killing it is murder! Maybe we should make them all view the videos on SilentScream! I highly recommend them! Maybe they’d change their minds! Either that, or their “Faith” is not a serious Faith, but a political ploy to them. If you embrace God, if you embrace Jesus as your Saviour, you CANNOT view abortion as anything but MURDER~!
