Allan C. Carlson, president of the Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society, has an article on homeschooling at First Principles:

One of the most powerful and unexpected American social movements during the last quarter of the twentieth century was homeschooling, by which thousands of parents broke with generations of law and custom and chose to provide the primary and secondary education of their children in their own homes. Despite an ideologically diverse pedigree, by the beginning of the twenty-first century home educators had become an influential component of the American conservative grassroots.
