MN: 3 suspended for not standing for Pledge of Allegiance

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports: “Three small-town eighth-graders in Minnesota were suspended by their principal for not standing Thursday morning for the Pledge of Allegiance, violating a district policy that the principal now says may soon be reworded to protect free speech rights.”

As one who had home rooms..time of day when the pledge, announcements etc were performed..I had trouble with students who were brainwashed and hated America..they would talk while the class..with the voice over the loudspeaker..would stand and recite the pledge..I would inform them they must stand out of respect for those of us to love this country but they dont have to recite it if they dont want to…usually by the end of the week.after I bring out my poster depicting the tremendous inventions benefiting the world ,that Americans devised..they get the hint..but I do not believe in forcing a student to recite the pledge..but they must stand and be respectful…..

IF I were the Parents… They would be PUNISHED !! Somthing these particular Kids know NOTHING about. I’ll admit, We have gone awry BUT,
the Flag & What it represents should demand “Respect”.

I agree that all students must stand in respect, they should not be forced to recite the pledge if they don’t want too.
