I found earlier this week, though it's been right in front of me, that in one of my personal favorite Psalms, #51, in verse 5 the writer speaks of himself, using "I" and "me," as having inherited sinfulness from the moment he was "conceived." Another translation renders it "For I was born a sinner -- yes, from the moment my mother conceived me." I looked up the Hebrew word for "conceived" -- it is not a misplaced word, definitely meaning not birth, or even being in the womb per se, but conception -- the moment the first distinct strand of DNA is written for the first time. And so here the word of God speaks of life beginning at conception.

Now I have to wonder what else I managed to pass by that in the Holy Bible.

Abortion is an issue easily clouded by vague discussion of rights, privacy foremost among them. We often forget that it is about people. Yes, it's about the unborn children; and it is also about the women whose lives are forever changed.

Good for her! What courage!
