When government intentionally deprives children of a mom or dad

MetroNews of West Virginia has this piece discussing the marriage debate. It reports:

. . . Chrisler was a guest on Tuesday’s MetroNews Talkline along with Jeremy Dys, the President and General Counsel for the West Virginia Family Policy Council.

“What we’re seeing here in California is we have government setting a policy and now courts imposing a policy that is a system that knowingly deprives children of a mom and a dad and that is what is fundamentally wrong with the decision,” says Dys . . .

This statement is wrong in so many ways. The Government is not denying children 2 gender parents. Many marriage couples of any gender-pairing to not have children. Same sex couples already have children - either from prior marriages, or by adoption / surrogacy. This has happened for years without legal, equal access to civil marriage. And, these children are loved, and raised with no harm according to all peer-reviewed studies.

There will not be any change in the numbers of children who have same-gender parents.

This change merely extends to the protections of civil marriage. This will make life much better for the children in these families, which will be good for all of society.
