San Diego reverses course after too many employees choose to opt-out of same-sex ceremonies

The San Diego Union Tribune reports:

At least 14 employees in the San Diego County Clerk’s Office raised religious objections to performing gay wedding ceremonies but were told by their boss they couldn’t pick and choose between marriage applicants.

Clerk Greg Smith said last month that he would allow employees with religious objections to avoid performing the ceremonies, but the response was apparently more than his office could accommodate . .

To the 14 who took a courageous stand. California majority population backs you. I am hoping the judges, Ron George and crew, will be recalled. I would support the action. They usurped their authority and did this act in defiance of the wishes of people of California. If anyone deserves recall, these judges certainly do. Thank you 14 for standing up for this cause….Don
