Your beliefs are going to be called “hatred”

Patrick McIlheran has this post in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.  He discusses the Elane Photography case in which ADF is involved and others that reveal how religious freedom is threatened by the redefinition of marriage and elevation of sexual orientation to a protected status.  He writes:

. . . This illustrates exactly why when courts redefine marriage to include same-sex couples, it is no simple matter of letting private individuals do what they wish. Marriage is fundamentally not a private matter. The relationship at its heart is, and in fact the sexual part of that relationship has been kept discreetly behind bedroom doors for very good reasons. But apart from the relationship, which necessarily is entirely the business of the couple that’s in it, the marriage is a public act – a public declaration of a status that demands all others regard the couple no longer merely as two individuals but as a pair, a unit, an entity. Marriage asks strangers to treat a couple differently because their relationship is a particular and intimate one . . .

This is what it looks like when courts decide to marginalize a religious belief. It leads to the gradual exile of religious belief from any part of life other than that which is within your head.

I strongly believe we are in the end times and things will get much worse. We Christians are going to be persecuted more as time goes on. As a Methodist I believe we must stick with the Book of Discipline and not allow changes. I have been married for over 51 years. God made a beautiful woman to be my wife. I feel gay people have arrested development and have never grown up to be mature adults. I have friends and acquaintances who are gay. I have socialized with them. Methidists believe open minds open hearts, open doors, but I believe in Holy Wedlock.

Yes,The word ’square’ as in a square meal used to mean..fair and honest..Teddy Roosevelt called his administration.’the square deal’ precisly for that reason..but the powers that be,in order to make FDRs new (!) deal seem hip…systematically changed the meaning of that word from fair and honest to outdated and naive. It began in sitcoms like the honeymooners..’hey Ralph, how can someone so round be so square’ then it appeared in the Beaver show, etc etc.by the time the punk Fonzi arrived the laugh track was not needed,it had worked…thus now with the story above. The Christian religion that destroyed slavery, elevated women to equality with men, invented wards, soup kitchens..charity itself,,is now being marginalized into becoming worse then square but a threat to all thats ‘good’ in the world…a threat to ‘freedom’ and ‘choice’ we ignore this attack at our peril…the enemy is not outside the gates but …………..
