WHO: ADF Senior Legal Counsel Brian Raum WHAT: Available for media interviews following hearing in Golden v. Paterson WHEN: Tuesday, July 15, immediately following hearing, which begins at 9:30 a.m. EDT WHERE: Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Bronx Courthouse, 851 Grand Concourse, Bronx, Room 706 BRONX, N.Y. — Alliance Defense Fund Senior Legal Counsel Brian Raum will be available for media interviews following a hearing Tuesday in a lawsuit brought by New York legislators and taxpayers against Gov. David Paterson for an executive directive he issued ordering state agencies to recognize out-of-state same-sex “marriages.” “The governor should respect New York’s marriage laws over the laws of foreign jurisdictions. Governor Paterson is overstepping his authority and the democratic process by issuing a directive at odds with New York public policy on marriage,” said Raum. On June 3, ADF attorneys filed suit against Paterson in New York state court on behalf of lawmakers and taxpayers who argue that the governor acted beyond his authority in issuing the directive and that implementation of it will cause a wrongful expenditure of taxpayer funds in a state where same-sex “marriage” is not legal (www.telladf.org/news/story.aspx?cid=4545). A fact sheet on the lawsuit, Golden v. Paterson, is available at www.telladf.org/UserDocs/GoldenFactSheet.pdf.
