One would have to live in San Francisco to understand why politicians vote the way they do. I ran along with 17 other candidates against Harvey Milk for the position of Supervisor (city council)back in the 70's. Every candidate except me had the identical platform. Everybody was for the same proposals and nobody dared to be different. Today in a place like California, one has to support a very vocal and active gay community that has a nearly 90% voter turnout in San Francisco. If not, there is no chance one can be elected to any position. There are people who search records, newspapers and jump on every belief that you have and turn it against you at election time. In the matter of same-sex marriages, curiously the Catholic Archdiosese has remained strangely silent when the Archbishop should put his faith and belief on the line and publicly and vigorously denounce this abomination and go so far as to publicly excommunicate Mayor Gavin Newsom both for his political stands and violation of church rules by getting married and then divorced and remarried and then supporting same sex marriages enthusiastically and illegally. There are few people of courage these days. Anything Goes! as Cole Porter, noted gay lyricist stated in his heyday of song writing. Thanks to the Alliance Defense Fund we have people of courage who are willing to stand up for their convictions and pronounce them publicly without fear or favor from the sinners of this country.

At the end of her original article, Prof. Colb has issued a correction and refers to Huffington Post and NRLC as competing sources. The Huffington Post column is a laugher but indicates that the Dems are worried that the "coverup" charge may have legs.
