Rabbi fights order to halt home prayer meetings
The First Amendment Center reports:
A Hasidic rabbi is challenging an order by the city of Portland to halt weekly prayer meetings at his home because they violate zoning regulations.
Rabbi Moshe Wilansky, with the backing of the Maine Civil Liberties Union, has asked the Zoning Board of Appeals to annul the order because it violates his right to practice his religion.

This is clearly not a zoning issue. Identifying this or other similar cases as zoning issues is a ruse to stop Jews and Christians from worshipping God freely wherever they choose. It is quite apparent that there is a push in this country, including on local levels, to eradicate our First Amendment rights. I wonder if those same people who are protesting the Rabbi’s right to worship in his own home with as many people as he invites, would object to having a house gathering that involved drinking, partying and a host of other decadent activities, no matter how many cars were parked on their street! Somehow, I doubt it! The Rabbi and his family have my full support and prayers.
