Missouri Gov wants churches organized as a state partner in disaster relief

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports:

The initiative, which began in earnest last month, is the first formal effort under a broader plan Blunt signed into law last year to forge a close working relationship between the government and religious groups. Blunt asked Missouri’s State Emergency Management Agency and the University of Missouri Extension to organize 11 meetings around the state to recruit churches such as St. Andrew, and to train faith leaders in emergency response. If successful, the initiative will result in a coordinated network of fully trained churches the state can rely on for services in times of disaster.
