Florida Supreme Court takes property tax cut and vouchers off ballot
Property tax bills won’t drop any time soon, but sales taxes won’t go up, either. And school funding will stay the same . . .
The justices also knocked off the Nov. 4 ballot a pair of voucher amendments, in the latest twist in Florida’s long-running legislative and legal battle over whether taxpayers’ money can be used to send children to private religious schools . . .
At issue was whether vouchers would go beyond the scope of the appointed Taxation and Budget Reform Commission, which meets every 20 years to propose changes to the state’s tax laws.
