9th Circuit Rejects RFRA Challenge To Hydroelectric Project By Snoqualmie Tribe

The Religion Clause Blog reports: “In Snoqualmie Indian Tribe v. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, (9th Cir., Oct. 7, 2008), the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld FERC’s granting of a 40-year license renewal to Puget Sound Energy, Inc. to operate the Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Project.”  The tribe argued that the Falls were sacred and infringed on their religious rites.
