Six separate legal challenges now pending against Prop. 8
Mercury News reports: “A women’s rights group Monday filed the latest legal challenge to the measure, arguing that allowing such a change to the California Constitution could lead to stripping women and minorities of legal rights. A coalition of religious groups, led by the California Council of Churches, also sued separately Monday to block the law. All six challenges argue that Proposition 8 was an improper method of changing the California Constitution and flouted the Supreme Court’s ruling last year striking down the state’s prior ban on gay marriage.”
