Pennsylvania: Teachers’ attendance at prayer approved in face of CLS pressure

The Carlisle Area School Board voted 8-1 Thursday to allow teachers to participate in the annual See You at the Pole prayer event, provided they make clear “they are doing so in their individual capacities, and not in any way in their role as employees of the school district.” . . .

The vote came one day before the deadline a Virginia group, The Center for Law and Religious Freedom, set for the district to change its guidelines that prohibited participation by teachers or face a lawsuit . . .
