Tribes petition U.S. Supreme Court in Arizona Snowbowl RFRA case

American Indian tribes are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review a lower court’s decision that allows for snowmaking on an Arizona peak the tribes consider sacred . . .

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco cleared the way for the snowmaking last August after a years long battle . . .

SCOTUS Blog reports: “Yesterday, the Stanford clinic filed this cert. petition in Navajo Nation v. U.S. Forest Service, dealing with the circumstances in which governmental action may constitute a “substantial burden” under RFRA.”
