Arizona bill would allow bars near schools and churches

Alyson Zepeda reports in the Arizona Republic:

With charter schools and churches looking to move into strip malls and other commercial areas, a state law meant to protect them by banning businesses selling liquor within 300 feet makes developers less likely to rent them space.

Rep. Michele Reagan, R-Scottsdale, is trying to update the Prohibition-era measure with HB 2302, which would allow cities to designate areas where businesses with liquor licenses can be located within 100 feet of churches, schools and fenced playgrounds.
