Nebraska ultrasound bill reaches final reading

Family First:

A bill which would give women the chance to see an ultrasound before having an abortion has advanced to Final Reading (the last round of debate) in the Nebraska legislature.
LB 675 would do the following:
• Any time an ultrasound is performed prior to having an abortion, the ultrasound image MUST be displayed for the woman to see.
• The ultrasound must occur at least one hour prior to the abortion.
• Any woman considering an abortion must be notified they can get a list of where to receive an ultrasound, free of charge, at a place other than the abortion clinic.
Family First has devoted a substantial amount of time working on ultrasound legislation this session. We believe that the ability to see an ultrasound prior to the abortion is an essential part of truly informed consent. Ultrasound technology provides a window into the reality of life inside of the womb.
The final vote on LB 675 will occur on Friday, the last day of the session.
