LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER PRIDE MONTH, 2009
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA A PROCLAMATION
Forty years ago, patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn in New York City resisted police harassment that had become all too common for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Out of this resistance, the LGBT rights movement in America was born. During LGBT Pride Month, we commemorate the events of June 1969 and commit to achieving equal justice under law for LGBT Americans.
LGBT Americans have made, and continue to make, great and lasting contributions that continue to strengthen the fabric of American society. There are many well-respected LGBT leaders in all professional fields, including the arts and business communities. LGBT Americans also mobilized the Nation to respond to the domestic HIV/AIDS epidemic and have played a vital role in broadening this country’s response to the HIV pandemic.
Due in no small part to the determination and dedication of the LGBT rights movement, more LGBT Americans are living their lives openly today than ever before. I am proud to be the first President to appoint openly LGBT candidates to Senate-confirmed positions in the first 100 days of an Administration. These individuals embody the best qualities we seek in public servants, and across my Administration — in both the White House and the Federal agencies — openly LGBT employees are doing their jobs with distinction and professionalism.
The LGBT rights movement has achieved great progress, but there is more work to be done. LGBT youth should feel safe to learn without the fear of harassment, and LGBT families and seniors should be allowed to live their lives with dignity and respect.
My Administration has partnered with the LGBT community to advance a wide range of initiatives. At the international level, I have joined efforts at the United Nations to decriminalize homosexuality around the world. Here at home, I continue to support measures to bring the full spectrum of equal rights to LGBT Americans. These measures include enhancing hate crimes laws, supporting civil unions and Federal rights for LGBT couples, outlawing discrimination in the workplace, ensuring adoption rights, and ending the existing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy in a way that strengthens our Armed Forces and our national security. We must also commit ourselves to fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic by both reducing the number of HIV infections and providing care and support services to people living with HIV/AIDS across the United States.
These issues affect not only the LGBT community, but also our entire Nation. As long as the promise of equality for all remains unfulfilled, all Americans are affected. If we can work together to advance the principles upon which our Nation was founded, every American will benefit. During LGBT Pride Month, I call upon the LGBT community, the Congress, and the American people to work together to promote equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2009 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. I call upon the people of the United States to turn back discrimination and prejudice everywhere it exists.

WHY ARE WE BEING FORCED TO PUT UP WITH THIS MAN’S OBVIOUS DISRESPECT FOR THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS. SO THAT HE CAN FURTHER HIS VOTING(?) BASE. I RESPECT THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, HOEVER, I CAN’T RESPECT A MAN OF NO MORAL VALUES. He IS INTERESTED IN THE GAY MOVEMENT AND ABORTIONS. May God have mercy on us ALL for choosing the leader who is totally turning this Great Nation away from God. Our forefathers, found this Nation humbly coming before God to set moral standards, the largest church filled with government leaders which was located in the center of the Capitol… We depended on God for everything, now He wants to leave God out of our Nation, proclaiming that United States of America is no longer a Christian Nation! If we leave God out of ourlives, then He will leave. The aftermath will be horrendous disaters all around the country. We still have chance to not let this happen. If ALL His children come together bowing down on our knees, fervently praying before God for forgiveness of our wrong choice and the sins of our leader, He will listen. He sure will show mercy on us ALL!! Therefore, let us come together with contrite heart and make supplications.

He doesn’t speak for me or mine and I resent that he would encourage people to glory in their shame and declare this “in the year of the Lord”!(How do you put the genie back into the bottle when someone does such an out-of-control identification of the American people with a position that most cannot affirm?
I shutter to think what it will be like for my grandchildren in the decades to follow. It is a shameful move by the President to invoke such a proclamation. Isn’t it amazing how in just a few short years, what was considered morally wrong is now acceptable behavior and we are made to feel ashamed for not embracing it.
How ironic…”in the year of our Lord” … I wonder what the Lord thinks…
This is the same president who declined to send a White House representative to participate in the National Day of Prayer events.
I almost puked half way through this. How about Metal of Honor Month, or Medical Breakthrough month. . . no, no, no, nothing most Americans would be proud of. But a perversion of humanity. The Lord called homosexuality an Abomination, sounds like Obamanation, coincidence, I think not. What’s next,Abortion Pride month. This is a sad day in American History. Shame on you Mr.President.

I had to search for LGBT for it to come up but it is there.
The American voters asked for a change, and a change is what they got.
Spoken as a true politician, not a statesman.
God, turn the heart of the king.
Wake Up America, this has been going on for the last 50 years, radical secularist judges and the ACLU have slowly and steadily outlawed references to God, religious symbols, and school prayer. God passed down the Ten Commandments for all of us to follow and obey. But now about a hold Generation of Americans feel that mentioning God in public is against the law. “God we need you help.”
Seriously? It seems like there’s a month for everyone but me. When is Heartland Values Month? When is Traditional Family Month? I will say one thing–at least LGBT month is June, when most kids are out of public school for the summer. Otherwise, I can imagine the “instruction” that would occur.
It scares me to think what will come next, are we even going to be able to go to church in the future?

Dear IL Coordinators,
Please consider the following.
Our President Obama has declared June, 2009 as “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and
Transgender Pride Month”.
We are not proud in any way of this sin in our land. As a ministry friend has
stated “There is nothing gay about being host to a sodomite spirit”.
We are a Nation founded upon Judeo – Christian principles.
We are a Christian Nation “if” we stand and declare Christ and His Word without
compromise. Joshua famously stated “as for me and my household, we will
serve the Lord”.
As Pastors, we are encouraging each of you who also serve the body of Christ as
Pastors to proclaim from your pulpits that as Christians, we are not in
agreement with the above proclamation.
We are encouraging each member of the body of Christ to repent, to apply the
blood of Christ to your life and family, and renounce the flaunting of the sins of
homosexuality AND pride in the face of our God Who is Holy, and declaring
release from this proclamation for your personal land and property. We are in
this world, but not of it!
Also, each of us should encourage men and women – as voting, tax paying
citizens – (not just as a Christian as it puts you in a box that is too often
ignored) to contact their own congressmen or women and personally express
displeasure and absolute disagreement with the proclamation. As you recall,
Paul made his case to be heard as a “citizen of Rome”.
If we don’t arise, who will? If we don’t speak truth, who will? Isaiah 40:9 ”Get
yourself up on a high mountain, O Zion, bearer of good news, lift up your voice
mightily —- lift it up, do not fear, say — Here is your God”
We do have good news to release! If we confess our sin, the blood of Christ will
cleanse us of all unrighteousness, and the grace of God has appeared and can &
will teach us what is right and what is wrong!
Do not be afraid to speak truth concerning such life or death releasing issues as
this!
Ezekiel 22:30 ”I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall
and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I
found none”.
Be the man / woman God is looking for. Build a wall of righteousness round
about your property, your home, your church, your city, your sphere of
influence!
Make a separation between life and death, and then take a stand praying for the
lost to be saved, redeeming your land where you live and work and worship, and
releasing the light of the knowledge of the glory of our God!
We, Delbra and I, are convinced that if we don’t begin to release the sound of
the Lord, the very rocks will have to cry out and their testimony will be one of
our fears and complacency –
Habakkuk 2:11 – Amp. – “For the stone will cry out of the wall [built in sin, to
accuse you], and the beam out of the woodwork will answer it [agreeing with its
charge against you].”
Romans 8:19 – For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and
longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the
disclosing of their sonship].
As sons and daughters of God in the earth, together we can and will advance
the victory of the King of the Kingdom!
