Same-sex “marriage” critic opposes effort to pull social work license
Portland Press-Herald: “A Nokomis Regional High School guidance counselor is asking the state Office of Licensing and Registration to toss out a complaint filed against him that seeks to revoke his license as a social worker because of statements he made in a TV commercial against same-sex marriage . . . Mendell is being represented by lawyers from the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Alliance Defense Fund.”

This strikes at the heart of academic freedom, which is how the ACLU first went to court in Scopes.
Naturally, it also strikes at the first amendment, and, in so doing, it calls into question the very essence of the state’s right and power to regulate cognitive professions: as the court opined in McCullough, the right to regulate is the right to destroy.
