LUV Iowa: Marriage rallies to open legislative session

IowaPolitics.com: “The concept behind ‘Two Days For Marriage’ involves Iowans attending the large gathering on January 12th, and then giving one additional day during the legislative session to lobby for passage of the Iowa Marriage Amendment . . . ”

SiouxCityJournal.com: “The first days of 2010 Iowa legislative session will be marked by high-profile rallies over one of the state’s most contentious issues – gay marriage . . . ‘Any member who stands between the people and our right to vote is risking their political future,’ said Chuck Hurley, the family policy center’s president.”

It is encouraging to see that Iowans are rising up to overturn the decisions of autocratic judges regarding marriage, and to reaffirm their right to vote on important public policy issues. Apparently, Iowa does not have an initiative process that enables the people to bypass the legislature as do other states. I think we need such an initiative process on a national level. That was not practically feasible when our nation was founded but it is today.
