Hospital e-mails show setup of abortion clinic taking longer than expected

The correspondence also suggests public opposition is taking a toll, with references to patients canceling appointments at the surgery center and some of the doctors who perform surgeries there threatening to leave. The e-mails were obtained through an open records request by the Alliance Defense Fund, a nonprofit, Christian legal organization in Scottsdale, Ariz., that is representing several surgery center workers who don’t want to take part in abortions . . . The Alliance Defense Fund is representing “at least five” workers at the surgery center who want to protect their legal right not to have to assist in abortions, said Matt Bowman, an attorney with the fund. The five are three anesthesiologists, a nurse and a surgical technician.”
