Amendment bid aims to stop “gay marriage” in N.H.

Sea Coast Online: The push for a constitutional amendment to repeal the equal marriage statute that went into effect Jan. 1 will continue before the “House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. The committee will hold hearings on two Republican-sponsored proposals. One is a bill, sponsored by Rep. L. Mike Kappler, R-Raymond, and four other lawmakers, which would repeal same-sex marriage and the state 2007 civil union law. The other is the constitutional amendment, sponsored by Rep. Daniel Itse, R-Fremont, and two other lawmakers, that would state ‘the state shall only recognize the union of one man and one woman as marriage.’”
