Maryland marriage protection bill hearing tomorrowThe Family Protection Lobby reports: Committee Hearing Tomorrow on Protecting Traditional Marriage in Maryland! Delegate Emmitt Burns, a Democrat from District 10 (Baltimore County) sponsored House Bill 90 (click here) entitled “Same Sex Marriages – Foreign Jurisdictions – Invalidity”. This bill will be heard before the House Judiciary Committee and will be opened to the public TOMORROW, January 28th starting 1:00pm. HB 90 would ensure that marriage remains defined as a union of one man and one woman (as current Maryland law reads). The language of this bill specifies this protection of marriage in cases which same-sex couples, recognized as married” in another state, should move to reside in Maryland. According to this bill, their union would not force current Maryland law to change. The Family Protection Lobby is in full support of this bill. We believe that marriage is the foundation of the family and that the family is the foundation of society. It is important that marriages remain whole and healthy for the sake of our society. The definition of marriage is one man with one woman; Maryland law recognizes that and no foreign juristic ion has the authority to change it. |
