David Waters writes at the Washington Post: “So now the Salvation Army has to sublimate its religious purpose to fulfill its religious purpose. Or does it? Aren’t there ways to ‘preach the gospel’ and ‘meet human needs’ without proselytizing? To act like Jesus rather than talk about him?”
