“Let’s stop the attacks on Christians,” says Italian Foreign Minister

Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “Putting together a ‘manual’ for EU countries’ embassies in ‘nations where persecution is a risk.’ Drawing on the experience gained in the appeal against the ruling on crucifixes to promote ‘a group of like-minded countries who take to heart the right of Christians to profess their faith anywhere in the world.’ And initiatives to propose at UN level to keep the issue high on the agenda “and restate the fundamental right of religious freedom.’ These, in Minister Frattini’s words, are the initiatives placing Italy in the front line against a ‘systematic violation of Christians’ rights.’ In the face of which, he says to Avvenire, ‘we have an obligation not to limit ourselves to declarations of principle but to act. And acting, I believe, means translating the political action we have already taken into operational decisions.’”
