ADF letters: Ga. schools OK to hold graduations in church buildings

ADF Senior Counsel David Cortman sent letters to school boards in three Georgia counties after the secularist group Americans United for Separation of Church and State began investigating them:

“It’s ridiculous to say that a school absolutely cannot hold a graduation ceremony at the best available meeting location just because it is a church. Despite what secularist groups want school boards to believe, merely using a church building for such an event is not automatically unconstitutional. If these school boards choose the church facility because it best meets their needs, nothing is wrong with that. The fact that someone might be offended does not amount to a constitutional violation.”
