U.S. House Sargeant at Arms issues same sex spousal ID to Congressman

Wisconsin Gazette: Openly gay U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan’s husband has received an ID issued only to the spouses of federal lawmakers. It is the first time the House has recognized the same-sex husband of a member with the House Spouse ID . . . But working with the House leadership, especially House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the spousal ID was secured.

Pocan said he had been asking the House Sergeant at Arms to make the change since he became a U.S. House in January, or at least explain the reasoning for withholding a spousal ID from a legally married couple.
