U.S. Supreme Court creates Habeas rights for Islamic terrorists and thousands of lawsuits in 5-4 ruling



SCOTUS Blog offers analysis and links to numerous media reports and commentaries.  The opinion is Boumediene v. Bush, No. 06-1195 (U.S. June 12, 2008).  Ironically, in addition to the legal mess it creates, the ruling is likely to lead to less humanitarian treatment for future terrorist captives.
