CA: Bay Area sports teams reach out to homosexual groups

One afternoon during a recent football season, 49ers owner John York walked into Mix, a San Francisco gay bar.
In the Castro, often described as the gayest neighborhood in America, the NFL owner turned heads, even though he’d been there before. York has been going to the Castro since 2003 with wife and co-owner Denise DeBartolo York to promote the 49ers, part of a concerted strategy to reach gay and lesbian fans.
