MI: Petoskey City Council defers decision on sex shops

Ryan Bentley writes in the Petoskey News-Review:

With some legal questions yet to be answered, Petoskey City Council members decided Monday to defer action on some proposed zoning rules for sexually-oriented businesses.

Council members decided to have city legal counsel attend the next meeting, which is planned for Aug. 18, to provide possible answers.

The city’s zoning ordinance currently doesn’t address adult-themed businesses. The proposed additions identify which types of zoning districts — the B-3 and B-3B business zones and the I1 and I2 industrial zones — can accommodate sexually-oriented businesses.
