SAN FRANCISCO — Alliance Defense Fund Senior Counsel Glen Lavy will be available for media interviews Thursday at 10 a.m. PDT when the California Supreme Court releases its decision on the constitutionality of the state’s Defense of Marriage Act, Proposition 22. Lavy argued before the court on March 4 in defense of the law, which voters passed in 2000 to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman only.
“The government should promote and encourage strong families. The voters realize that defining marriage as one man and one woman is important because the government should not, by design, deny a child both a mother and father,” said Lavy.
ADF attorneys represent the Proposition 22 Legal Defense and Education Fund in the consolidated marriage cases, named In re: marriage cases, which includes the lawsuit Proposition 22 Legal Defense and Education Fund v. City and County of San Francisco.
