Okla. Gov. vetoes ‘Religious Viewpoints Antidiscrimination Act’

Tulsa World reports:

Henry vetoed House Bill 2633, called the “Religious Viewpoints Antidiscrimination Act,” by Sen. James A. Williamson, R-Tulsa, and Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City.

The bill stated that “students may express their beliefs about religion in homework, artwork and other written and oral assignments free from discrimination based on the religious content of their submissions. Homework and classroom assignments shall be judged by ordinary academic standards of substance and relevance and against other legitimate pedagogical concerns identified by the school district. Students shall not be penalized or rewarded on account of the religious content of their work.” . . .

Odd isn’t it, you’re the Gov. of Okla. and supposedly well versed in law/politics, but you haven’t heard of the Equal Access Act of 1984 (upheld by the Supreme Court in 1990) that guarantees the exact rights defined in House Bill 2633. The Gov. should have done his homework before vetoing the “Religious Viewpoints Antidiscrimination Act”. I hope the Congressmen of Okla. do the right thing and overturn his veto.

Let’s all pray for the men and women who govern at all levels. We need revival in this country so, so badly.
