SAN DIEGO — Alliance Defense Fund Senior Vice President Jeffery Ventrella will participate in a panel debate Monday at the University of San Diego on the topic of same-sex “marriage.” The debate will include discussion of Proposition 8, the proposed amendment to the California Constitution regarding marriage, as well as discussion of the California Supreme Court’s recent decision on marriage.

“Judges and politicians should never impose a system that knowingly deprives a child of a mom and a dad,” said Ventrella. “The opponents of marriage aren’t merely trying to redefine marriage; they’re trying to eliminate it. If anything is marriage, then nothing is marriage.”

Ventrella is an experienced debater and panelist who has challenged many high-profile opponents, including former American Civil Liberties Union President Nadine Strossen, on a variety of constitutional law issues. He has participated in numerous debates at a variety of venues, including Duke University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of Virginia, among others.

Others scheduled to participate in Monday’s panel discussion include ADF-allied attorney Charles LiMandri, the West Coast Regional Director of the Thomas More Law Center; attorney Matt Stephens of Stock, Stephens, LLP; and attorney Erik Isaacson of Coughlin, Stoia, et al., LLP. The discussion will be moderated by corporate attorney Karen Bodreau and is sponsored by the USD student chapter of The Federalist Society.
