Robert Barnes, Amy Goldstein and Jerry Markon report in the Washington Post: “Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor this morning emphatically disavowed an earlier statement that implied she allowed her ethnicity to affect her judgment from the bench, as she found herself being grilled by the leading Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee on the second day of her confirmation hearings.”

Ms. Sotomayor having been confirmed and presuming one more appointment of this ilk by President Obama, then these aberrant cases coming before the Supreme Court will not be denied to their supporters, but will be approved by 5 to 4 decisions. The U.S. Constitution will become imperiled by those who should be its stewards. Democracy, at the least, will be severely wounded by judicial legislation.
