9th Circuit: Fair Housing Act Religious Exemption Protects Homeless Shelter: In Intermountain Fair Housing Council v. Boise Rescue Mission, (9th Cir., Sept. 19, 2011), the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals held that the religious exemption in the federal Fair Housing Act applies to shield from religious discrimination claims an organization that sponsors Christian homeless shelters and a drug treatment program.
