Parentsrights.org looks to end the erosion of parents’ rights by giving you talking points when contacting Maine’s Congressional reps to urge the passage of the Parents Rights Amendment. The proposed Parental Rights Amendment will preserve the traditional view that parental rights are a fundamental right, and restore the traditional strict scrutiny standard of protection, while preserving the government’s power to prevent and to prosecute child abuse and neglect.

"Stunned by four states legalizing same-sex marriage in just two months, social conservatives are working hard to stop it, often through the avenue where they've had their greatest success: the ballot box.

'The integrity of our most fundamental institutions is in question and needs to be in question,' says Mike Heath, executive director of the Maine Family Policy Council, an evangelical Christian lobbying group.

'I see our institutions as having become openly hostile (to religious views). They're responsive to the elite and moneyed interests that dominate our statehouse. ... The only hope here is the people.'

Reason No. 1 for turning to the ballot box? It works . . ."

"This is a danger that will spread to all states but will not necessarily result in same-sex marriage in all states," Campbell said, noting that opponents would continue to press their elected officials to reject gay-marriage initiatives.

Mike Heath writes at the Maine Family Policy Council: "First, graffiti symbolizes lawlessness and disorder. From the outset, the method in which graffiti is produced is illicit and unlawful. Its techniques are anarchic and without order, as is its finished result. Second, graffiti demoralizes the public. Those who have lived in major American cities know that in urban neighborhoods, graffiti goes hand-in-hand with crime. It also goes hand-in-hand with rundown neighborhoods and cyclone fences. Thirdly, and this is the worst threat, graffiti calls into question Maine's reputation as a 'place set a part' a region which is safer and more wholesome than the rest of the nation."
